Locked out and striking San Francisco hotel workers, members of HERE/UNITE Local 2, rally in Union Square to hear Rev. Jesse Jackson.  The union struck at four hotels in September 2004.  Ten other hotels, including the St. Francis, then locked out their workers.  Hotel workers voted two weeks earlier to strike over employer demands for cuts in health care payments and inadequate raises, as well as for an expiration date for their contract in 2006, which would allow the union to negotiate simultaneously in major US cities. © 2004 David Bacon
